ATC SCM11 Loudspeaker
ATC SCM11 is one of three bookshelf speaker models from ATCs SCM range which also includes one floor-standing model, the ATC SCM40. With finishes available in Satin Black, Satin White, Black Ash or Cherry, they’re sure to suit a diverse range of listening environments.
Drivers
SCM11 has a 25mm soft-dome unit, designed and built in-house which is a very rare thing to find in a relatively small manufacturer. The Mid and LF driver employs CLD driver technology with a 45mm integral soft dome.
ATC has also included a new crossover with higher-quality components. Clearly, the ATC SCM11 presents a sound investment in quality audio listening.
- New ATC designed and built 25mm soft dome HF unit with precision alloy wave guide.
- Precision undercut bass pole.
- CLD driver technology with 45mm integral soft dome.
- In-house, hand-wound precision flat wire coil.
- Massive optimised motor assembly.
- Flat impedance curve allowing easy load for amplifiers.
About ATC
ATC was formed in 1974 by Billy Woodman to manufacture custom drive units for the professional sound industry, they quickly made their mark with the 12″ PA75-314 driver, a design capable of handling more power and producing less distortion at a higher sound pressure level than any other unit on the market.
1976 saw the first production of the ground-breaking SM 75-150s soft dome midrange driver, a technical tour-de-force, whose innovative up-scaled design reproduced a more uniform dispersion, wider bandwidth and much lower distortion than was thought possible at the time. It revolutionised studio monitoring and has since become recognised as the ultimate mid-range transducer for both domestic and professional applications. Utilising exotic materials and precision tolerances, the latest version of the SM 75-150s represents the apex of drive unit technology. It is often copied but never equalled.
Through ATC’s commitment to multi-channel mastering and its direct involvement with leading players in the professional audio industry including Sony Music and Telarc, ATC’s products are installed at some of the world’s most prestigious multi-channel studios and auditoria. I’m loving these speakers , noticeable step up from my Focals , the professional reviews are all true ! Well worth the money , the build quality and beauty of the speakers is outstanding and the sound quality is incomparable to anything I’ve had before and I will be treasuring them for a long time to come

My thanks to the team at Soundstage, Dean, Ed and Alex.
A great bunch to deal with, knowledgeable, helpful and a fun experience.
I have ended up punching a pair of ATC SCM11 stand mounts and thought I’d share my findings.
The short version is that they are truly an astonishing speaker, particularly at their price point. For context the rest of the system is a very high spec Linn LP12 as primary source and Naim amplification. As with any system, synergy is the key thing, so matching the transducers first; we have a Lyra Kleos SL cartridge with works in harmony with the SCM11s and the good old Naim NAP250 has plenty of grunt to drive them.
They are a seamless speaker in terms of integration over the bandwidth, they are neutral but in no way boring. They simply don’t pick favourites being equally adept at the portrayal of a violin or an electric guitar. As such all music is most enjoyable and and the induce a grin like the proverbial cheshire cat! They really are a class act but after a while you just forget about them and stick on some more music.
They have a lot of detail but not in a spot lite way, in fact the top end is very sweet indeed. At the bottom they have a tight articulate bass and the midrange is sublime especially with vocals. Overall their presentation is fast and agile, they are musically very engaging and to be highly recommended.

If you like real, almost analytical, clarity from your speakers then ATC’s should suit you. I auditioned a pair of ATC ‘7’s’ – cute in size, heavy in weight – and wow what a delivery of detail in the music – hear every instrument with real punch in the mid range and treble. Then I listened to (and bought) their bigger brother the ATC ’11’s’ with the same clarity and punch but with added bass giving greater warmth, depth and breadth. Fantastic performance and not that expensive given what they deliver.
